New Map Vote Tool...
« on: June 21, 2010, 04:35:41 pm »
That I wrote. :)

It's currently kind of simple, to be honest, but here's what it does:

1) It ignores the last 5 maps that we've played.
2) It chooses 7 maps - 3 bomb maps, 2 hostie maps, and 2 "other" maps (VIP, GG, FY, AWP, etc.).
3) It won't crash the server if there are any bots playing, like our old script was doing.  8)
4) Displays a running vote tally in the hint box (including the currently leading map, etc.).
5) Excludes small maps when more than 10 players are on the server, and excludes large maps when less than 10 players are on the server.
6) Allow players to nominate maps for the next vote.

What it's going to do in the future, when I have more time to play with it:
1) Allow for run-off votes in the event of a tie, or the lack of an absolute majority in the votes.
2) ..? What else should it do? :) Your feedback would be great here.

Looks like it will be a HUGE improvement from the old map vote thingy...

GREATTT ideass Wolfwood and can't wait till those take into effect.

This is just something that's coming to mind right now but not sure if it's possible. But i think after 5 or so maps, it gives you an option to click more to see the rest of the maps. Im wondering if its possible to include all maps on the same "page" so that we dont disregard the last two or so maps on the map vote. I notice a lot of people only look at whats on the first page of the map vote.

Anywho, i'm just blabbin' on. Can't wait for the new Map voting system.

Yep - all 7 maps show up on one screen, so you don't miss any votes. :)

I'd like some help here. At the moment I'm trying to create two lists of maps - a list of 'small' maps (i.e. maps that are only appropriate for, say, less than 10 players), and a list of large maps (i.e. maps that are only appropriate for, say, more than 10 players).

The idea being:

If there are less than 10 players on, no "large maps" will be loaded into the map vote.

If there are 10 or more players on, no "small maps" will be loaded into the map vote.

At the moment, after a brief flip through our list of maps, this is my initial suggestion for small vs. large:

Small maps: as_vespa, gg_halo, fy_poolday_reunion_lite
Large maps: de_grindstone, cs_abscond_pro, cs_seige_2010, cs_northtower

Any suggestions for additions to these lists is appreciated.

Just pushed a new version; you can now nominate maps for the next vote! Here's how it works:

1. Either type 'nominate' in chat to bring up a list of maps to choose from, or type 'nominate map_name' if you already know what map you want to nominate (e.g. 'nominate de_dust2').
2. You can't nominate a map that is ineligible for this vote - that is, you can't nominate a map that's been played too recently, and you can't nominate a map that's too large/small for the current number of players. You also can't nominate a map that has been nominated by someone else already.
3. You can only nominate one map, and there can only be a total of 5 nominations per map vote.
4. After you've nominated a map, it is guaranteed to show up in the map vote. That does not, of course, mean that people will vote for it... but it'll definitely be an option. :)

Let me know what you guys think!

Sort of.

The difference is sort of subtle, but...
"rtv," if there are enough votes for it, starts a map vote immediately. When rtv is enabled, you use "nominate" to add maps to the vote started by rtv.

In this case, by example:
Let's say you're playing on de_dust2. You really want to play gg_2012 next, though, so you type 'nominate gg_2102' in chat. You'll get a message from the plugin saying something like "|wH| elcaminador has nominated gg_2012 for the map vote."
You continue to play dust2 as normal. When it gets close to the end of the map, the map vote shows up (as usual), except that now you know that gg_2012 is going to be one of the options, since you nominated it.

Make sense?

If someone wants to suggest a different word than "nominate" I'd be glad to use it, since "nominate" comes with the rtv connotation... I just couldn't think of a better word to use.

i think it's good so that people that are new to the server will be used to the nominate command.  Sounds great, i can't wait to try it out.
